London born and Leicester dwelling Jon1st has spent the last decade pushing the boundaries of technical DJing, establishing himself as an on the pulse club DJ, world champion turntablist, forward-thinking producer and engaging live performer creating across the alternative bass music spectrum.
Following his widely acclaimed breakout win in the 2013 DMC World Online Championships, Jon quickly built an international reputation as a ‘DJ’s DJ’, not only proving himself as one of the world’s most diverse turntablists but also as an in demand live performer specializing in exploring the conversation between genres delivered with precise, masterful mixing, and exquisite selection. Constantly breaking new music and effortlessly blending together influences, he has developed a busy DJing schedule across Europe, North America and Asia, holding down a residency at Ivy Lab’s 20/20LDN events, as well as regular appearances on Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel, Boiler Room, Keep Hush, Rinse FM, DJ Mag, NTS, SWU FM, his own series of mix podcasts with Fly High Society and, most recently, a series of Audio Visual minimixes.
As a producer, he has recently released projects on Defrostatica, Slow Roast and Worst Behavior, as well as a continuous wave of collaborative projects including releases with Shield, DJ Craze, Fixate, EAN, BSN Posse, DJ Madd, Tehbis, GOALS and Benny Roach. His collaborations with Shield also developed into an ongoing live show project, with the duo performing their studio projects live to critical acclaim, that they toured extensively in North America and Europe in 2019 and early 2020, as well as collaborating with turntablist legend DJ Craze and working closely with Pioneer DJ to launch their Toraiz music production equipment range.
Jon’s focus on incorporating his turntablist background into different situations has also led to an array of different partnerships and collaborations. In addition to performing his own material live, he has used his turntablist skill set to perform official scratch remixes of household names such as Ivy Lab, Alix Perez, Om Unit, Sam Binga, Halogenix, Moresounds, Kabuki, NameBrandSound and DJ Vadim, as well as recording scratches for releases by JD Reid, Mosca and Silent Dust & Kaelin Ellis, and being a member of Beardyman’s Dream Team improvisation band. He has also worked on several projects with leading DJ equipment brands Pioneer DJ and Serato, testing, consulting on and showcasing now industry standard products like the DJM S9, DJM S11 and PLX-1000 in worldwide campaigns and at industry events.
Some of Jon’s recent projects have included the Focus EP and Remote Research live performance mixtape with Shield, a stand out Keep Hush Set, ‘Step Up’ with Fixate, ‘Pantone Suplex’ on Defrostatica’s Hybrid Hooks Compilation, ‘Rose Point’ on Worst Behavior Vol.3, ‘Burnin Shoes’ with BSN Posse, being a face of the global campaign for Pioneer DJ’s DJM-S11 performance mixer, and creating a series of audio-visual minimixes. Recent DJ support has come from household names such as Addison Groove, Sherelle, Noisia, DJ Craze, Machinedrum, Sicaria Sound, Ivy Lab, Gilles Peterson, Ternion Sound, Fixate, Om Unit, Nikki Nair, Sam Binga, Tipper and more.
Alllone
alllone is a DJ/producer duo consisting of Mathis Hofbauer and Stefan Krems who operate out of Berlin and Graz. In 2013 they started playing hardcore and breakcore Dj sets with the Noise Collage collective. After a few years their sound changed and gravitated towards distorted and harmonic bass music with various influences including Hiphop, Halfbeat, Jungle, Footwork, Dubstep, Jazz and Grime. Since their debut EP in 2017 alllone have released music on labels like Aufect, Zenarchy, Sapyens Recordings, Duzz Down San, Balkan Kolektive, Simply Deep, Defkon1, last summer they dropped the “Nacht der Gewohnheit” EP on Honigdachs together with Austrian rapper Fate, next up is the “Bad Tuesday“ EP on Potent Funk Records, UK which features rapper Big Dabbla from the High Focus camp. They also established a creative collective called GreyNote which organizes A/V shows and clubbings in Graz; as well as putting more music on the self-released GreyNote compilations.
Sowie
As part of the Graz-based promoter collective GreyNote, Sowie is an active part of the city’s underground scene when it comes to bass music. Sowie moves from hip-hop to house, footwork to jungle and halfbeat with her DJ sets. In their energetic sets you can feel her enthusiasm for the sounds, her preference for heavy basslines, funky breaks and weird twists.
