Zoë Mc Pherson (she/they) is a Berlin based multimedia artist, performer, researcher, multichannel sound designer, DJ, and founder of SFX platform, label & community.

Their sophomore album States of Fugue [SF02] released on 20.02.2020 is
“Adventurous, freestyling Designer-Electronics in cut-up style” (Hardwax), with Tenace drawing on the track’s relentless rhythms as a raw, spontaneous and personal dance.
As well as creating music for movement & sound enthusiasts, Mc Pherson is drawn to bridging the worlds of sound and visual art.
Mc Pherson started collaborating with multimedia artist Alessandra Leone in 2016. They together created a series of audiovisual outputs SF01, SF02 and SF03, which were praised “Best experimental video” at Berlin music video awards, were selected in “Vimeo Staff picks” ; screened at the Australian Center for Moving image in Melbourne, CTM festival, Nowness and more.
In 2020 they founded SFX with the aim to produce and present multi-form experiences and objects. They curated and developped XquisiteForce.AV, an ongoing collaborative AV composition feat. 43 sound and visual artists which is part of CTM 2021 Cyberia, a virtual digital exhibition/multi user virtual 3D environment.
In 2021 Zoë presented two different multichannel sound installations in Berlin’s Alhambra and Kuppelhalle Silent Green curated by Mosche and Arch +.
This year they also started collaborating with Jessica Ekomane with a first live set for ARTE TV filmed at Berghain Halle on the occasion of Ostgut’s 16 year anniversary.
They have released a vast range of solo and collaborative albums, EPs and singles which can be found in the ‘discography’ section. Labels include Morphine records, SFX, SVS records, Ostgut, BAKK, Oramics & Kashev, LavaLava, Hot Desk, Low Income Squad, Euphonic Rhythms.
They have performed in Europe, USA, Asia and north Africa with highlight performances at Mutabor Moscow, Berghain Berlin, De School Amsterdam, Krake, R4R and Tresor Berlin, ZVUK Almaty, Schiev Beursschouwburg Brussels, Meakusma Eupen, Chouftouhonna Tunis, Concrete Paris, Nottingham contemporary, Mengi Reykjavik, Kaiku Helsinki, Üle Heli Tallinn, BRDCST Brussels.
Main ongoing threads in their work are exploring rhytmics, intersections and liminalities. These fields and narratives come together as a way of highlighting the value of/and the interdependence between all elements and bodies.
Zoë hosts a bi-mentual radio show Pulse sur-mesure on Lyl radio, where they invites two guests per episode to focus on oddly ‘fitting’ rythms and metrics.
They have collaborated with electronic musicians Jessica Ekomane, Christina Vantzou, Rupert Clerveaux, Klahrk, Simon Grab ; vocalists Elvin Brandhi and Greetje Bijma ; instrumentalists Gernaas Mao, Falk Schrauwen and Sam Comerford.
Other guest mixes include NTS radio, C-, Eotrax, Rinse fm, The Word, Kiosk radio, FACT, Red light radio, Cashmere radio and a residency on Bristol’s Noods radio.
